Well I would say the cartoonist might have a skewed view against the Aussies. Diplomacy and people's sentiments are different things.
It is said that most Commonwealth governments usually have a policy to appease the people of its country e.g. Britain, Australia. So much had been done to fight for the rights of its own citizens and then care for other external problems.
However, the matter has blown itself up to such major proportions, that even a single "criminal" could cause so much uproar that blocked the plight from the rest of the world.
Thus there can be no equality when people's sentiments are compromised.
